emergency situations
Intended for power boaters and
sailors, the webinar includes
specific how-to guidance.

The Squadron
Boating Course is one of
our courses designed to familiarize the
student with the fundamentals of safe boating
and qualify for certification in most states
that require boating education before
operating a watercraft. Subjects
include:
- Boat
handling under normal conditions
- Adverse
conditions
and
emergencies
- Types
of boats and boating terminology
- Required
and
recommended
equipment
- Boating
regulations
and
navigation
rules
- Lines
and knots
- Charts
and
aids
to
navigation
- Piloting
techniques
(in
Boating
only)
- Marine
radiotelephone
usage
- Trailer
boating
- And much,
much more
These are instructor taught classes
offering an opportunity for feedback
and comaraderie.

Upon
successful
completion
of
the
Boating
Course,
the
student
will be invited to join the Duluth Sail and Power Squadron. Member
benefits include access to Education Department
elective and member classes including
Seamanship, Piloting, Advanced Piloting,
Weather, Engine Maintenance, GPS and others.
Other Squadron activities include safety
demonstrations, use of the Squadron dock and
many social activities.
